Óscar Fernández: “We have to be consistent and faithful to what we’re doing right to search for the win”
VCF Mestalla head coach, Óscar Fernández, assessed Sunday’s meeting against Villarreal CF B which will take place at the Antonio Puchades at 12 pm kick-off time on Matchday 15 in group III B of Segunda División B.
“The team are well and in high spirits. It’s a significant game against a b team. The table has no bearing on these games. It’s a big game between two b teams of two top-flight sides.
We want to take all three points and achieve victory at home and what better opposition than Villarreal CF B in a really beautiful game. Two academies where future elite footballers come up through the ranks for Spain will square off.
We’re going to fight for the win on Sunday, we’re going to face an opposition who are doing things really well as the table reflects but beyond the table, it is a game between footballers of high level.
There are going to be many duels of great football with many situations of intensity and aggressiveness between players who are knocking on their respective first teams' doors. It’s a game that everyone wants to play.
We can’t look at the table. The table reflects a reality which is that we’re the bottom side.
We must be doing something wrong when we’re not winning. We’ve got to take all three points because a win would help us. But we’ve got be consistent and faithful to what we’re doing right to search for those three points that help us. We’ve got to win on Sunday because it’s really important for us”.
